This question has Statement-1  and Statement -2. Of the four choices given after the statements, choose the one that best describes the two statements.

Statement 1 : A capillary is dipped in a liquid and liquid rises to a height h in it. As the temperature of the liquid is raised, the height h increases ( if the density of the liquid and the angle of contact remain the same)

Statement 2 : Surface tension of a liquid decreases with rise in its temperature.

Option: 1

Statement 1 is true, Statement -2 is flase

Option: 2

Statement- 1 is false, Statement -2 is true

Option: 3

Statement- 1 is true, Statement -2 is false.

Option: 4

Statement -1 is true

Assertion is incorrect but the reason is correct.

We know that,

h=\frac{2 T \cos \theta}{R 1 g}

As the temperature is raised, the surface tension (T) decreases.

As a result, the capillary raise (h) also decreases if density (e) and contact angle (θ) in unaltered.
