Carbohydrates that are sweet in taste are called sugars. 
Example: 

  1. Milk sugar (lactose)
  2. Cane sugar (sucrose)
  3. Malt sugar (Maltose)

Non-sugars are not at all sweeter in taste.
Example:

  1. Cellulose 
  2. Starch 
  3. Glycogen

Generally, polysaccharides are not sweet in taste. Hence, also known as non-sugars.
