As we have learned

Oxides of B and Si -

Both are acidic and can be reduced by limited amount of Mg

Both are readily soluble in alkalies

B_{2}O_{3}+3Mg\rightarrow 3MgO+2B

SiO_{2}+2Mg\rightarrow 2MgO+Si

 

 Due to diagonal relationship between B and Si nature of their oxide are same and both are acidic
