Option: 1

The photoelectric effect occurs only when the incident light is of a particular color.

Option: 2

Electrons ejected during the photoelectric effect are known as photoelectrons.

Option: 3

When a material is exposed to light, the emission of electrons from its surface is known as the photoelectric effect. The electrons ejected during the photoelectric effect are known as photoelectrons (option 2).

The photoelectric effect occurs when the energy of an incident photon is greater than the work function of the metal. The frequency (or equivalently, the colour) of the light affects the energy of the photons, but there is no specific colour required for the photoelectric effect to occur. (option 1 is false).

The number of photoelectrons emitted during the photoelectric effect is directly proportional to the intensity of the incident light.

Therefore, the correct answer is option 2, i.e., "Electrons ejected during the photoelectric effect are known as photoelectrons."
