Standing wave is produced by superimposition of two travelling waves in opposite direction.

Wave travelling in opposite direction and forming node at x = 0 is y = A \sin (\omega t - kx+\pi)

 as at x =0, y_1= A \sin \omega t

                  y_2= A \sin (\omega t +\pi)=-A \sin \omega t

y_{\text{resultant}}= y_1+y_2=0
