Why the size of the ions of alkali metal decreases considerably than the size of the corresponding metal ion itself?
Because of the negative charge
Because of the positive charge.
Because of large number of paired electrons.
Because of the full filled shells.
As the cation has outermost shell completely filled and the electrons are negatively charged which greater than the positive charge that is far away. So, the electrons are strongly attracted towards the nucleus and the size of the cation decreases considerably.
