Dr. Mehboob was a well known oncologist across the country. He was known to be up to date with the latest research and treatments. In July 2010 he published an article in a widely circulated medical science journal. The article mainly addressed the issue of Ayurvedic treatment of cancer supported by various data stating Dr. Mehboob's concern that Ayurvedic treatment of cancer is not only fruitless but may at times be harmful. The All India Ayurveda Doctors Association brought an action of defamation against Dr. Mehboob because they found a majority of their patients stopping the treatments subsequent to publication of the article.
