Only a reasonable apprehension is enough to exercise the right of self-defence. It is not necessary that there should be an actual commission of the offence to give rise to the right of private defence. It is enough if the accused is apprehended that an offence is likely to be committed if the right of private defence is not exercised. Here Sam himself was an aggressor. Hence Option B is correct.
