Given that  AB^2+AC^2=100\;cm^2 and CD = 5 cm

Using the concept of Appolonius Theorem

A B^{2}+A C^{2}=2\left(A D^{2}+D C^{2}\right)

\\100=2(AD^2+25)\\AD=5

AD = 5cm
