Multiplying each of the equations by 10, we get

\begin{array}{l} 4 x-15 y=65\qquad\ldots(1) \\\\ 3 x+2 y=9\quad\qquad\ldots(2) \end{array}

Multiplying (1) by 2 and (2) by 15 and adding, we get

8 x+45 x=130+135

\\\Rightarrow \quad 53 x=265\\ \\\Rightarrow \quad x=\frac{265}{53}=5

Putting x = 5 in (2), we get

15+2 y=9 \Rightarrow 2 y=9-15 \Rightarrow 2 y=-6 \Rightarrow y=-3

Hence, x = 5 and y = -3.
