Let population of male be x and female y respectively

$\mathrm{x}+\mathrm{y}=12000 \ldots \ldots \ldots \ldots \ldots$

Now, acc. To question

$(106 x / 100)+(108 y / 100)=12800 \ldots \ldots \ldots \ldots \ldots b$

Solving a and b we get

Y=4000
