Option (a)

Natural selection is the variation in individual’s survival and reproduction brought on by phenotypic variances. Adaptive variants of a particular quality tend to become more dominant, whereas less adaptive forms become recessive. Individuals' varying capacities for survival and reproduction will gradually alter the population to advantageous traits that will lead to the formation of new species.

Option 1  is the correct answer.
