Resistance of the galvanometer=36\Omega, max current I_G=100mA=0.1A

Connecting a resistance R in series with the galvanometer and using the equipment in between the two points A and B, we shall get a voltmeter to measure voltage difference ranging from 0 to (V_A-V_B)

Here, (V_A-V_B) = 5V 

Now,

\begin{aligned} & V_A-V_B=I_a(G+R) \\ & R=\frac{V_A-V_B}{I_a}-G=\frac{5}{0.1}-36=14 \Omega \end{aligned}
