Hinsberg's reagent test is given by both primary as well as secondary amines. However, it is the primary amines only that give a product which is soluble in Alkali.

This is because there is an acidic hydrogen (N-H) present in the addition product with Benzene Sulphonyl Chloride for a Primary amine.
