\mathrm{Be} and \mathrm{Al} ions have strong tendencies to form complexes, \mathrm{BeF}_{2}^{-4}, \mathrm{AlF}_{3}^{-6}

\mathrm{Be}\mathrm{Al} metal form an oxide film on the surface. This oxide film prevents further oxidation.

The chlorides of both \mathrm{Be} and \mathrm{Al} have \mathrm{Cl}^{-} bridged chloride structure in vapor phase. Both the chlorides are soluble in organic solvents and are strong Lewis acids and are used as Friedel Craft catalysts
