\left(P + \frac{a}{V^2} \right )\left(V-b \right ) = RT

Here P is pressure, V is volume, R is gas constant and T is Temperature.

Dimensional formula of Van der Waal's constant (a) is

Option: 1

[M^{1}L^{5}T^{-1}]

Option: 2

[M^{1}L^{4}T^{-2}]

Option: 3

[M^{1}L^{6}T^{-2}]

As we have learnt,

Vander waal 's constant (a) -

ML^{5}T^{-2}

- wherein

Newton -m ^{4}

According to the principle of homogeneity

[P] = \frac{[a]}{[V^2]}

So,

[a] = [P][V^2]

      \\= [ML^{-1}T^{-2}] [L^6] \\= [ML^5T^{-2}]
