  • In sweet pea (Lathyrus odoratus), both the genes C and P are required to synthesize anthocyanin pigment causing purple color. 
  • But in the absence of anyone cannot produce anthocyanin causing white flowers. 
  • So C and P are complementary to each other for anthocyanin formation.
