When switch \mathrm{S_1}  is open

\mathrm{ \frac{6}{E}=\frac{L}{2} / L=\frac{1}{2} \\ }

\mathrm{ \therefore E=12 \mathrm{~V} }

When switch \mathrm{ S_2 }  is closed, we get

\mathrm{ \frac{6 \times 10}{10+r}=\frac{5 L}{12 L} E=\frac{5}{12} \times 12=5 \\ }

\mathrm{ \therefore 10+r=12 \text { or } r=2 \Omega }
