In a polysaccharide, individual monosaccharide are linked by a glycoside bond.

This bond is formed by dehydration between two carbon atoms of two adjacent monosaccharides.

 

 

When two monosaccharides are linked , a glycosidic bond formed with the release of a water molecule . Hence , when 4 monosaccharides are linked 3 glycosidic bonds are formed with the release of 3 water molecules
