Reduction of nitro compounds in acidic medium -

In acidic medium it converts into primary amine. { Reagent Sn + HCl  or  Zn + HCl }

- wherein

 

 Under weakly acidic conditions aniline are produced but under strongly acidic medium produces p-aminophenol.
