The phenotypic ratio as a binomial equation -

1/4:1/2:1/4 is actually TT : Tt : tt can be represented as (ax+by)2

- wherein

The expression can be expanded as

(1/2T + 1/2t)2 = (1/2T + 1/2t) \times (1/2T + 1/2t) = 1/4TT + 1/2 Tt + 1/4tT

 

 The crossing between two heterozygous plants is as follows :

So, is plants obtained were 500, then the respective number of tall and dwarf plants will be 375 tall and 125 dwarf.
