Process of nodule formation -
Rhizobium comes in contact with lengume root hairs and secrete nod factors which results in curling of root hair tips. Plant responds by forming an infection thread growing inwards and carrying bacteria to the cortical cells of root. Some bacteria enlarge forming bacteroids which are seat of fixation. Cortical cells divide rapidly producing nodules
