Types of buds on the basis of position -
On the basis of their position on the plan, buds are -
Terminal or apical - present at the apex and responsible for increase in the length of stem.
Axillary - present in the axil of leaves and develop into branches and flower.
Accessory - In citrus and Duranta, additional buds develop by side of an axillary bud.
Extra-axillary buds - present on nodes but outside the axil of a leaf. Example: Cucurbita
Adventitious buds - Buds that arise any part of the plant other than stem.
Radial buds when growing on roots, ex: sweet potato.
Foliar buds when growing on the leaf ex: Begonia (elephant ear plant & Byophyllum (sprout leaf plant).
