There are two trains that are moving in the same direction. One leaves the station at 7:30 am with a speed of 60km/hr and the other at 8:30 am with a speed of 75km/hr. At what time will they both meet?
Given-
Solution- Train A has a 1-hour head start (from 7:30 am to 8:30 am). In that 1 hour, Train A travels: = 60 km/h × 1 hour = 60 km. So, when Train B starts at 8:30 am, Train A is 60 km ahead.
Since both are moving in the same direction: Relative speed = Speed of Train B − Speed of Train A = 75 km/h − 60 km/h = 15 km/h
Time taken to cover the 60 km gap $$
Time = \frac{ Distance} {Speed}= \frac{ 60 km} {15 km/h} = 4 hours
$$ Add this to Train B's starting time. Train B starts at 8:30 am and add 4 hours: 8:30 am + 4 hours = 12:30 pm
Therefore, they will meet at 12:30 pm.
