Two long parallel conductor, kept at a distance d, carry currents I_1 and I_2 respectively. The mutual force acting between them is  F. Now, the current is one is doubled and its direction is also reserved. If the distance of separation between them is made 3 d, what will be the force acting between the two conductors?

Option: 1

\frac{-2}{3}F

Option: 2

+\frac{2}{3}F

Option: 3

-\frac{3}{2}F

Option: 4

For unit of the conductor,

F =\frac{\mu_0}{4\pi}.\frac{2I_1I_2}{d}

If the current is the first conductor is doubled and direction is reserved, it will be -2I_1.

\therefore In the second case,

F' =\frac{\mu_0}{4\pi}.\frac{2(-2I_1)I_1}{3d}=-\frac{2}{3}\frac{\mu_0}{4\pi}.\frac{2I_1I_2}{d}=-\frac{2}{3}F
