An auto-rickshaw charges Rs 10 for the first kilometre then Rs 8 for each such subsequent kilometre. The total charge (in Rs) for d kilometres is __________.

Let's say the total distance covered is 6Km, then the charge is 10 rupees for the first kilometre and 5 x 8=40rupees for the remaining 5 Km. 

That is total charge=10+(6-1) x 8==10+5x8=10+40=50 rupees

So if the total distance is d then the total charge to be paid=10+(d-1)x8

=10+8d-8=2+8d
