Given sum:  \frac{5}{4}+\left (\frac{-11}{4} \right )

Here the denominator is the same which is 4.

\frac{5}{4}+\left (\frac{-11}{4} \right ) = \frac{5-11}{4} = \frac{-6}{4} = \frac{-3\times2}{2\times2} = \frac{-3}{2}
