Gibberellin was discovered accidentally, and Charles Darwin and his son Francis Darwin accidentally came across the auxin. They noticed that coleoptiles of canary grass reacted to unilateral illumination through growth in the direction of light. After some time, F W Went separated auxin from coleoptiles of oat seedlings.
