The probability of fruit set in a self-pollinated bisexual flower of a plant is far greater than a dioecious plant. Explain.
Dioecious plants depend on agents of pollination to carry out sexual reproduction. The availability of agents is impacted significantly by external factors. Ex – Usage of high levels of pesticides has reduced the population of pollinating insects. Hence, the probability of fruit set in self-pollinated bisexual flowers is far greater than a dioecious plant.
