What could be the possible explanation for the greater vulnerability of amphibians to extinction as compared to other animal groups?

Answers (1)

Scientists have yet to understand the proper cause of the large-scale extinction of amphibians. Some of the possible reasons might include:

  • Amphibians have different reproductive needs, they are terrestrial but require aquatic habitats for reproduction.
  • Habitat destruction and modification due to deforestation and industrialization.
  • Water bodies are getting polluted.
  • Introducing exotic predatory species like catfish, feed on frogs and tadpoles.
  • Pesticide use.
  • Ultraviolet-B radiation.
