a) Nephron is the structural and functional unit of the kidney. Its main role is to regulate the concentration of water and soluble substances like sodium and other salts by filtering the blood and reabsorbing the excess water what is needed and excreting the rest as urine.

b) two factors on which reabsorption of water from urine depends are:

  • The amount of excess water which are present in the body.
  • The amount of dissolved waste that need to be excreted out of the body.
