(a)    Differences between organisms through successive generations are called variation is created during DNA copying, combining variations from two or more individuals to create new combinations of variations.

    Variations Promote the survival of the species as variations allow them to adapt and survive to the changing environment and connections. Different species have different kin of advantages depending on the nature of variation.

(b)    Gametes are produced through meiosis. The number of chromosomes is halved during gamete formation. Thus gametes have a haploid number of chromosomes. When male gamete and female gamete fuse during fertilization, the original no. of chromosomes is restored in the offspring. This shows how offspring and parents of organisms reproducing sexually have the same no. of chromosomes.
