Phototropism :

  • In phototropism, light is the stimulus.
  • Shoots respond by bending towards light while roots respond by bending away from it.

Geotropism : 

  • In geotropism,  gravity is the stimulus.
  • Roots of plants grow downward towards gravity whereas shoots grow upward against gravity. 

Hydrotropism : 

  • In hydrotropism, water is the stimulus.
  • Roots always grow towards water.

Chemotropism :

  •  In chemotropism, the chemical is the stimulus.
  • In chemotropism, growth of the  pollen tubes towards ovules takes place  where ovules produce chemicals for the growth and passage of pollen tubes.
