Differences between Gymnosperm & pteridophytes  are :

1. In gymnosperms, taproots are present whereas, in pteridophytes adventitious roots are present.

2. All gymnosperms are heterosporous in nature whereas, pteridophytes can be homosporous or heterosporous.

3. Branching of the stem is lateral in gymnosperms whereas, the dichotomous type of branching is observed in pteridophytes.

4. Secondary growth is present in gymnosperms whereas, secondary growth is absent in pteridophytes.

5. Gymnosperms are often found in the temperate forests whereas, pteridophytes are usually found in cool and moist areas.
