If the whole set up is immersed in water without disturbing the object and the screen positions , what will one observe on the screen ?
The changes due to water immersion - The image will no longer be formed clearly on the screen. It will appear blurred or may disappear entirely.
Reason - The focal length of a convex lens increases when it is placed in a denser medium like water. This is because the refractive index contrast between the lens material (usually glass) and the surrounding medium (air or water) decreases. In air, the lens has a greater bending power due to the higher difference in refractive indices (glass vs air).
The lens can no longer focus the light at the same screen position, so the real image shifts further away.
