The Sparrows paid their silent tribute to the Grand old lady, they also mourned her death and they didn’t even touch the bread crumbs which were thrown by the narrator’s mother. They didn’t chirp nor did they touch the bread crumbs. After some time they flew away quietly when the dead body of his grandmother was carried off. In this way, they expressed their grief at the death of their grandmother. They also knew that the lady that used to give her daily bread crumbs daily was dead.
