Metaphor is a word or phrase that is used to convey the meaning of the sentences. For example it appears that the words used as metaphor are imaginary or exaggerated but they represent the meaning of the sentence. For example -

1. The classroom looked like a zoo. In it like a zoo is a metaphor which shows that the classrooms were untidy, unclean, noisy and children behaved like animals in Zoo.

2. She is a koel. Now here, in reality the child is not like the koel bird but her voice is as sweet as of a bird.
