The Renaissance is a French word which means rebirth or reawakening. Humanism was the chief characteristic of this age. It was both a revival of ancient classical mythology, literature and culture as well as a reawakening of the human body and the world of nature.The proper study of mankind was the aim of Renaissance period. It was started in Italy by Dante, Petrarch and Boccaccio in the 14th century. It was stimulated by the fall of Constantinople. New discoveries took place in several other fields. Like, printing of books and systematisation of art, which was one of the remarkable features of this period. Search for truth was the new spirit which awoke in Europe with the revival of learning.
