A prefix is a word that when used in front of or ahead of a word can change the meaning of the word. The prefix of word sufficient is insufficient. Examples to show the difference in meaning before using the word sufficient and after using the word sufficient are as follows-

1. We have sufficient number of answer sheets for the exam.

2. It will be sufficient if you will just pass this paper.

The meaning of sufficient here is enough in first sentence and adequate in the second sentence. The meaning of word insufficient is -

1. The supply of food was insufficient considering the number of guest in the wedding.

2. The money that tenant has is insufficient to pay his rent.

The meaning of insufficient here is  less and inadequate.
