The evaporation of water from the aerial parts of the plant such as leaves, stems and flower is known as transpiration.

Functions:

  1. It helps in the absorption and upward movement of water in plants.
  2. It helps in the movement of dissolved minerals from the root to leaves.
  3. It helps in regulating the temperature of plant or cooling of the plant.
