Why do offspring resemble their parents?

best_answer

The genetic material causes the offspring to resemble their parents.  When reproduction happens, the genetic material DNA is passed on to the next generation. DNA contains genes have have information about traits like eye color, hair type, and height, which are passed down through generations. The offspring receive half of the genes from the male parent( sperm) and the other half from the female parent (through the egg). These genes mostly pass unchanged, but some mutations can cause slight differences. These differences explain why children do not look exactly like either parent but still have similarities.
