Why do stars twinkle while planets do not?

best_answer

Stars appear to twinkle as their light passes through different layers of Earth's atmosphere and causes light to bend and reflect in different directions. This makes the star’s light seem to change in brightness and position. Planets, however, are much closer to Earth and appear as larger discs in the sky. The bending of light from different parts of the planet cancels out, so they do not twinkle.
