With the help of one example for each, distinguish between the acquired traits and the inherited traits. Why are the traits/experiences acquired during the entire lifetime of an individual not inherited in the next generation? Explain the reason of this fact with an example.

Acquired traits :

  • These traits are acquired by a person from his environment.
  • These traits do not have to transfer in the next generation.

Eg:- Knowledge, skill, profession etc.

 

Inherited traits:-

  • These traits are inherited by the person from his parents.
  • These traits have to transfer in the next generation.

Eg:- Eye colour, skin colour, height etc.

Acquired traits or experiences can not be inherited because we learn these traits due to changes in life and observing other people. and we acquire traits according to need in our life so these traits can be learnt but not inherited.

Eg:- Child of a doctor couldn't be a doctor without learning and practice.
