A police jeep chased a thief at  45\frac{km}{h}, while thief traveled at  153\ \frac{km}{hr}. The police fired a bullet with an initial speed of   180\ \frac{m}{s}. The speed at which it hits the thief’s car is:

Answer: (1)      150\frac{m}{s}

Explanation:

The effective speed of the bullet = Speed of bullet + Speed of police jeep

Or, 180\ \frac{m}{s}\ +\ 45\frac{km}{hr}                          

Or,    \left(180+12.5\right)\frac{m}{s}\ =192.5\ \frac{m}{s}

The speed of the Jeep =  153\ \frac{km}{hr}=42.5\ \frac{m}{s}

The speed of a bullet with respect to the thief’s car =  192.5\ -42.5\ =150\ \frac{m}{s}
