In Young's double slit experiment the y-coordinates of central maxima and \mathrm{10^{\text {th }}} maxima are \mathrm{2 \, \mathrm{cm}} and \mathrm{5 \mathrm{~cm}} respectively. When the YDSE apparatus is immersed in a liquid of refractive index 1.5 the corresponding y-coordinates will be

Option: 1

\mathrm{2 \mathrm{~cm}, 7.5 \mathrm{~cm}}

Option: 2

\mathrm{3 \mathrm{~cm}, 6 \mathrm{~cm}}

Option: 3

\mathrm{2 \mathrm{~cm}, 4 \mathrm{~cm}}

Option: 4

\mathrm{4 / 3 \mathrm{~cm}, 10 / 3 \mathrm{~cm}}

Fringe width \mathrm{\beta \propto \lambda}. Therefore,\mathrm{ \lambda} and hence \mathrm{ \beta} decreases 1.5 times when immersed in liquid. The distance between central maxima and \mathrm{ 10^{\text {th }}} maxima is \mathrm{ 3 \mathrm{~cm}} in vacuum. When immersed in liquid it will reduce to \mathrm{ 2 \mathrm{~cm}.} Position of central maxima will not change while \mathrm{ 10^{\text {th }}} maxima will be obtained at \mathrm{ y=4 \mathrm{~cm}.}
