$0 . \overline{3}=0.3333 \quad \rightarrow(1)$

As the period is of one digit, we multiply by 101 i.e.10

$\therefore 10 \times{0.\overline{3}}=3.333 \quad \rightarrow(2)$

(2) - (1) gives

$9 \times {0 . \overline{3}}=3 \Rightarrow 0 . \overline{3}=3 / 9=1 / 3$
