1 mole of \mathrm{Cr}_2 \mathrm{O}_7^{2-}accepts 3 electrons to give \mathrm{Cr^{3+}}. So, 1 mol of \mathrm{A^{n+}} gives the 3 electrons and gets oxidised to \mathrm{A^{n-3}}.

So, \mathrm{X=n-3}.
