Let the mirror be placed at a distance x from wall By using

\frac{\mathrm{I}}{\mathrm{O}}=\frac{-\mathrm{v}}{\mathrm{u}} \Rightarrow \frac{-9}{+3}=\frac{-(-\mathrm{x})}{-(\mathrm{x}-3)} (image will be inverted)

\mathrm{\Rightarrow x=-4.5 \mathrm{~m}=-450 \mathrm{~cm}}.
