Besides the formulae given for prism, we can always use the basic laws of refraction. Using Snell's law for the refraction at AC, we obtain

\frac{\sin \mathrm{i}}{\sin r}=\frac{\mathrm{n}_{2}}{\mathrm{n}_{1}}
\Rightarrow \quad \frac{\sin 30^{\circ}}{\sin r}=\frac{1}{\sqrt{2}}
\Rightarrow \sin r=1 / \sqrt{ } 2
\Rightarrow r=45^{\circ}.

The angle of deviation, \mathrm{D=45^{\circ}-30^{\circ}}
                                           \mathrm{= 15^{\circ}}.
