Phases of Interphase: G2 phase (Gap2) -

Proteins are synthesised in preparation for mitosis while cell growth continues

 G1 is followed by S phase where DNA replication occurs and DNA doubles (2C \rightarrow4C). In G2 DNA remains same . In M phase , division occurs and DNA content becomes either 2C (mitosis) or 1C (meiosis)
